Returning to your radio sets will be ABC - 1593,the station origanally started life as (ABC Fm) in the early part of the 1980's,it was run locally on the wirral merseyside by ex station.m manager Tom Lodge!,no..not the one from radio caroline.
After he handed over to Roger Dee to continue S.M.I a new station came into being on 96.25mhz fm in between bbc radio merseyside and city fm on 96.7.The sounds of A.B.C came blasting in,it was much later on that a low powered transmitter was heard again with A.B.C but run by another person.
This station only lasted a short time,but it was in 1998 that a new sound was heard on the fm bands!,W.A.B.C on 106.7mhz,it came on air on a bank holiday then returned at the christmas and newyear period of 1998 and saw in the newyear,the start of a new year...1999, and as the year progressed more stations came and went,wabc returned but in another disguise!,But as they say!,the rest is history!....
